Coaching and counselling explained

Finding the patterns that are holding you back so that you can move forward according to your true nature

What is the difference between coaching and counselling?

There is no real consensus about the difference between coaching and counselling, because they overlap quite a lot, and everyone has their own interpretation. In counselling, the counsellor and client explore the client’s underlying patterns and investigate where the problem originated in the past. With this understanding, they can then look for ways to change or resolve the underlying causes and patterns. In coaching, the coach and client look at how the client can do things differently in the future with new strategies. They investigate the possibilities and strengths of the client and challenge them to push boundaries and reach their goals.

In other words, with counselling, you look at what needs to be discovered and processed from the past, so you can continue to work on the future through coaching. As a coach-counsellor I may therefore provide a combination of counselling and coaching, depending on what your unique situation calls for.
